Modular Photoresponsive Drug Carriers
The evolution of drug delivery technologies in the past decades has drastically expanded the means of optimizing the ADME (i.e., absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion) properties of therapeutics. Light acting as a biorthogonal external stimulus brings added precision and controllability to make smart drug delivery systems. Down this line, our group will gear towards the development of photoresponsive nanoparticles and hydrogels for sustained and controlled drug delivery. These systems will find nice synergies with many other therapeutic tools, e.g., immunotherapy, cell therapy as well as gene and protein therapies.
